Artworks
I attempt to convey emotions through colour in my portraits, still lives and landscapes. I use many different media. I like to work on a large scale and am inspired by children's use of colour. I also enjoy doing fine pen and ink work and have used this in card design. My portrait of Kevin Coyne was used on one of his CD covers. I frequently work under commission to create portraits, click here for details.
Architecture
I have recently been doing a lot of pictures around St Peters Church and Caversham Court, using charcoal, oil pastels and pen and ink.
Fruit
Fruit still lives are an endless source of inspiration. I have done pictures in many different media and usually in vivid colours.
Nudes
I attend a weekly life drawing group and am always inspired by drawing the human form.
Lilac
This is an example of more delicate work in pastels - which gives a light spring like feeling.
Portraits
I love to do portraits. From quick sketches in charcoal, pencil or pen to a fullblown oil on canvas portrait. In the latter I enjoy exploring all the colours I see when I study a face/scene.
Tree
I enjoy working on a scene in pencil, pen or oil pastels and picking up the vibrant colours.
This is a very large oil painting done from a small black and white photo of my grandmother. I had never seen her and used colouring described by my parents. I have done similar commissions for other people and enjoyed the challenge.
Sunflower
A watercolour sketch.
